Has God Refined You?

If you follow my other blog, ChristianSuperMom, you may already know that after three years of enduring the life trial of unemployment, and only days after publishing my book UnEMPLOYED Faith, God has answered our prayers and provided a great job for my husband.

The Author of our life has indeed been glorified!

The heavy weight of this life crisis we've had to deal with day in and day out, has finally been lifted from our shoulders.  The funny thing is (if you can call our suffering funny) we actually didn't realize how much dealing with unemployment was weighing us down until it was no longer an issue.  Sure, we knew it was difficult and stressful, but we didn't fully comprehend just how much we were enduring.

A confirmed sign that God carried most of the burden for us.

The past few days I've noticed how much deeper I breathe and how unbelievably relaxed I feel.  Was I really that uptight before?  I've actually made it three whole days without yelling at my kids for something.   In fact, I've been so calm and quiet that my husband has been asking me each night at dinner if I'm okay.

Yes, I'm great!

It's just weird not to have something to complain about.  Isn't that terrible?!

But most notable to me is the person I see when I look in the mirror these days.  She's very different than the woman of three years ago…five years ago…okay, even ten years ago.  In some ways visually she's aged and there's a certain wisdom in her eyes like never before.  There's something else though.

A glow of some sort.

Is that what JOY looks like?   Or is that the look of faith?   Perhaps, it's what true strength in Christ looks like.

This third I will bring into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold.  They will call on my name and I will answer them;  I will say, "They are my people," and they will say, "The Lord is our God."                                                                                                                 ~Zechariah 13:9

The Bible teaches us that God's people will be tested and molded to perfection.  God uses our trials to change us for the better.  He also uses these seasons of difficulty to draw us closer in our relationship with Him.  The end result is a person who is almost indescribable and more beautiful than ever.

In your present faith journey, have you developed a stronger relationship with God?  Do you find yourself craving His glorious presence and peace?

Look at yourself in the mirror.  Who do you see?  Are you more refined because of the challenges you've endured?

When it feels like there's nothing left to rejoice over, take a look at how God has refined you.  I guarantee you are far more beautiful today than you were the day this trial entered your life.

God has molded you, friend.  And He doesn't make mistakes.  You are beautiful.

Rejoice in that!

~May God mold all of us to His absolute perfection!
