Keeping the Peace While Living With Your In-Laws

Keeping the Peace While Living With Your In-Laws

From time to time I have the honor of sharing real life experiences with you from the readers of UnEmployed Faith and from those who are a part of the UnEmployed Faith Community.

The following guest post is just that. Real life. Written from a real person. Not a writer. Not a blogger. But a beautiful wife of a man who was unemployed. They have recently been blessed with a new beginning and new job!

Please welcome my dear friend, Elaine, as she shares her heart with you on keeping the peace while living with your in-laws. ...

“You’re crazy!”

“This won’t work!”

“They don’t like me!”

You may or may not speak these very words during unemployment or financial hardship if the subject of moving in with your in-laws ever comes up.

When we moved in with my in-laws it was rushed and not planned out. I don’t recommend moving in this way.

We had been having problems with our living situation and needed a place to go. My in-laws had suggested the move.  So ...

What I’ve Learned From My Husband’s Unemployment

Unemployment has impacted the lives of so many beautiful friends that I'm privileged to know or have met along the journey.  Today, I want to share with you the heart of my dear friend, Barbie of My Freshly Brewed Life.   She is simply amazing.   After reading about what she's learned from her husband's unemployment, be sure to click over and check out her fantastic blog.

Today I am honored to be sharing here at Unemployed Faith. Thank you, Rosann, for the opportunity to share my heart with your readers.

I am the wife of a man who has been unemployed more often than not over the last 4 years. I wish I could say it hasn't changed me. But it has. I wish I could say that I've always kept the faith. But there were times when I had lost my hope. I wish I could say that I am more prepared for "the next time" should it happen again. But I am still learning to walk this long, and often lonely road.

I don't ...

How NOT To Lose Sleep When You’re Stressed About Money

How NOT To Lose Sleep When You’re Stressed About Money

The light from the digits on your nightstand clock blare against your weary eyes.  Images of an eviction notice, piled-high envelopes stuffed with past due nasty grams, and thoughts of living in your car bounce chaotically through your mind.

You roll over to feel the warmth of your husband, but he's not there.  He can't sleep either.  Depression is taking hold of him.

Not helping matters is knowing you'll both enter the new day filled with anxiety, moodiness, headaches, reduced energy, and an inability to concentrate on any one thing for more than a few minutes.

If only the both of you could get a few restful nights of sleep.  Maybe…maybe then you'd be able to think clearly on how to approach the horror of unemployment.

Do You Suffer From Insomnia?

Studies show insomnia to be a common complaint among men and women, particularly those dealing with stress of unemployment or low income.  It's not healthy either.   If you don't resolve the problem soon, it can lead to serious health problems.

And let's face it, you have enough ...

Working Our Way Through Not Working

Working Our Way Through Not Working

It's often difficult to find others who are going through similar circumstances with which we can relate to or learn from.  Especially (and surprisingly so) with unemployment.  Sometimes it just helps to know there's another married couple out there going through the exact same thing.

So I'm excited to be able to introduce you to Suzanne Blair of Frugal Friends Network.  She and her husband experienced their own lengthy season of unemployment as well, and Suzanne agreed to share some of her story and some really helpful tips for Working Your Way Through Not Working.

After you read what Suzanne has to say, be sure to click over to Frugal Friends Network and check out their website.  It's a really great money saving resource.

When my husband was laid off from work, it was during which time my daughter, Sierra, was passing away. It was a blessing in that he was able to be with me during that difficult time; however, due to medical bills and both of us having debt ...

A Frugal Lifestyle During Unemployment

A Frugal Lifestyle During Unemployment

In today's economy, the word unemployment is all too common.  Our national unemployment rate is at least 8.5% right now.  This equates to millions of American families currently struggling through a season of unemployment in their home.

It's so hard!  If you fall into those sad statistics, I know what you're going through.

My husband and I are now in year 3 of our unemployment journey.  It's been a long and emotionally devastating road for us.  This is by far the most difficult "money crunch" we've had to deal with in our 13 years together.  With the grace of God, we are still getting by.

Today, I'm over at Frugal Friend's Network discussing some tips on living a more frugal lifestyle during unemployment.   Join me there?
