Loving Your Husband

What to DO and NOT Do when Your Husband Has Just Been Laid Off

Published on April 11, 2013 by

I know that feeling of sheer panic that sets in when your husband comes home saying, "well, honey, I just got laid off."

Even though my husband and I saw it coming, it was still a pretty hard blow to our sense of inner peace when that reality hit us.

Thankfully, with a lot of hard and intentional efforts, our marriage survived three years of unemployment.

I have such a heart for this ministry of helping others keep their marriage strong through the difficult times of financial hardship that I wrote a book about ...

Keeping the Peace While Living With Your In-Laws

Published on April 2, 2013 by

From time to time I have the honor of sharing real life experiences with you from the readers of UnEmployed Faith and from those who are a part of the UnEmployed Faith Community.

The following guest post is just that. Real life. Written from a real person. Not a writer. Not a blogger. But a beautiful wife of a man who was unemployed. They have recently been blessed with a new beginning and new job!

Please welcome my dear friend, Elaine, as she shares her heart with you on keeping the peace ...

Help Build Your Husband’s Confidence

Published on January 30, 2013 by

"I personally feel that being the wife to an unemployed man means we need to do our part to show love in tangible ways, to be his best friend in the storm, to try lifting his spirits when we can, and to help boost his self esteem."                                               ~ Rosann Cunningham, UnEmployed Faith

Your husband lost his job.  He's having trouble finding another one.

A man's identity is wrapped up in what he does ...

How to Love Your Husband Through Unemployment

Published on January 22, 2013 by

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

~ 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

Experiencing trouble in life is not a new concept only relevant to our world today.  Pick up a Bible and read it for any length of time.  You're sure to see there are numerous stories of trial and tribulation throughout the pages of God's word.

The Season of Waiting

Published on December 13, 2012 by

Do you ever wonder if the season you're in right now will ever end?  I know it must feel like the longest season ever... Oh, how I know.  I have been there, dear friend.  That's why I thought this seasonal post from my sister site, Christian SuperMom, would be right up your alley.  I hope you enjoy it and walk away encouraged.

Waiting can be such agony.  I remember when I was little, it seemed like the month of December took forever to arrive.

Once it did, I would eagerly ...

Every year during the month of October my mother-in-law starts asking her loved ones for their Christmas lists.

As the end of the month rapidly approaches, she is turning up the pressure because my unfinished list is now delinquent.  She graciously reminds me that she's getting older and "can't possibly shop for items on everyone's list in one day."

She likes to get her shopping done early so she can enjoy the special traditions, the family gatherings, the baking, the laughter, the Christmas program and services at church and the beauty of the holiday season, stress-free.

How would you like to win an iPad Mini?  Imagine the possibilities.

A Christmas gift for your teenager.

A much needed resource for your entrepreneurial venture.

A replacement to the laptop that's giving you all kinds of grief.

Wouldn't it be totally awesome if you won?

Well, friend, I have good news and bad news.

The bad news is I'm not hosting a giveaway for an iPad Mini here at UnEmployed Faith.

The good news is, I have teamed up with several other Christian bloggers to give away an iPad Mini at my sister site, ...

My Gift to You This Holiday Season…

Published on November 22, 2012 by

Happy Thanksgiving!

This is my absolute favorite time of year.  Not only do I enjoy splurging on all the delicious holiday foods and treats, but I also feel overcome with gratitude for the countless blessings God has poured over my life.  And entering a season of celebrating Jesus...  Glorious, Holy, Amazing, Jesus!  I just get all giddy thinking about it!

However, I'll admit there was a three to four year season of seemingly endless trials, my husband's unemployment being a major part of those years, where I struggled to get ...

What’s Your Perspective?

Published on August 31, 2012 by

Perspective.

In the mess of life, ours is often so twisted.

Thankfully, it’s not just us.  Even Moses struggled to have the right perspective about his abilities or what he was truly capable of handling.

Moses said to the Lord, “O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant.  I am slow of speech and tongue.”

The Lord said to him, “Who gave man this mouth?  Who makes him deaf or mute?  Who gives him sight or makes him blind?  Is it not I, the Lord?  Now go; I ...

Ladies, Here’s a Fun Way to Strengthen Your Marriage

Published on August 17, 2012 by

Marriage is one of God’s highest callings and it is certainly near and dear to my heart.

So much so, that my entire mission behind the book UnEMPLOYED Faith, and the UnEMPLOYED Faith community is to help encourage women and save marriages from the fallout of strong, yet normal emotions that develop with long term unemployment and financial hardship.

In speaking with many of you, there has been an expressed interest in having our own little online book club where we can read through a book on our own (specifically on ...
