For The Unemployed

What God Taught Us Through Job Loss

Published on May 24, 2013 by

Please welcome guest contributor, KM Logan of KMLogan.com, as she shares what God taught her and her husband through job loss.

...

There are a few moments in life that I would classify as “freak out” moments. Finding out my husband had lost his job was definitely one of them.

It was just a few months after we had gotten married, we were both settling into our new jobs, and we were both settling into our roles as husband and wife. That’s when I got the phone call.

I was happily answering ...

What to DO and NOT Do when Your Husband Has Just Been Laid Off

Published on April 11, 2013 by

I know that feeling of sheer panic that sets in when your husband comes home saying, "well, honey, I just got laid off."

Even though my husband and I saw it coming, it was still a pretty hard blow to our sense of inner peace when that reality hit us.

Thankfully, with a lot of hard and intentional efforts, our marriage survived three years of unemployment.

I have such a heart for this ministry of helping others keep their marriage strong through the difficult times of financial hardship that I wrote a book about ...

Be Strong and Courageous

Published on February 20, 2013 by

This year memorizing scripture has become a high priority for me.  While my personal and family struggles with unemployment and financial hardship may have passed, I'd be foolish to think life going forward will only be smooth sailing.

The thing is, God never promised a life free from trouble.

Even though I know God will never leave me nor forsake me, that He will always be with me carrying me through the difficult storms of life, and that no matter what happens He will find someway to bring good from my suffering ...

Do Not Grow Weary or Lose Heart

Published on January 15, 2013 by

Suffering.

We all go through it at some time in our life.  For some of us, it happens more often than we'd prefer.

At a recent church event, I stood in front of a crowd of  women and shared my testimony.  My husband and I have been through an awful lot of trials over the past 13 or so years.  I knew it was a lot, but it wasn't until I stood there painting a picture of all of that emotion that it hit me just how much suffering we were, for whatever reason, chosen to ...

Obedience to God Begins With Humility

Published on January 8, 2013 by

Obedience to God begins with humility.

Having passed through the unemployment nightmare that haunted the walls of my home, I can attest to the truth behind those words.

My husband's long term unemployment proved to be very humbling to both of us while living through it, and even now as we work to rebuild financially.

What I've learned is, having a humble heart, free from pride, isn't a bad thing!

A Good Example

2 Kings 5 tells the story of Naaman, an army commander and valiant soldier.

He had leprosy.

Back then, leprosy was the most ...

The Season of Waiting

Do you ever wonder if the season you're in right now will ever end?  I know it must feel like the longest season ever... Oh, how I know.  I have been there, dear friend.  That's why I thought this seasonal post from my sister site, Christian SuperMom, would be right up your alley.  I hope you enjoy it and walk away encouraged.

Waiting can be such agony.  I remember when I was little, it seemed like the month of December took forever to arrive.

Once it did, I would eagerly ...

Every year during the month of October my mother-in-law starts asking her loved ones for their Christmas lists.

As the end of the month rapidly approaches, she is turning up the pressure because my unfinished list is now delinquent.  She graciously reminds me that she's getting older and "can't possibly shop for items on everyone's list in one day."

She likes to get her shopping done early so she can enjoy the special traditions, the family gatherings, the baking, the laughter, the Christmas program and services at church and the beauty of the holiday season, stress-free.
